Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)

  • A minimum of 6 hours contact time typically undertaken on a single day. Practical assessment throughout, with some oral questioning.

    Lasts for 3 years.

  • A range of subjects are covered including:-

    • Responsibilities and reporting

    • Resuscitation and AED awareness

    • Choking

    • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

    • Minor injuries

    • Epilepsy

    • Bleeding control

    • Shock

First Aid at Work (3 day)

  • A minimum of 18 hours over three days. This course is assessed practically over the three days as well as some oral questioning and a written assessment.

    Lasts for 3 years.

  • A range of subjects are covered including:-

    • Responsibilities and reporting

    • Resuscitation and AED awareness

    • Burns

    • Choking

    • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

    • Epilepsy

    • Bleeding control

    • Shock

    • Fractures and spinal injuries

    • Heart Attacks, Stroke and other medical conditions

    • Head, Eye and Chest Injuries

    • Sprains and strains

Annual Refresher (1/2 day)

  • Although not mandatory, HSE recommends first aiders undertake an annual refresher. A minimum of 3 hours consisting of theoretical and practical activities.

    • Resuscitation

    • Wounds and Bleeding

Emergency Outdoor First Aid (1 day)

  • A minimum of 8 hours contact time typically undertaken on a single day. Practical assessment throughout, with some oral questioning.

    Lasts for 3 years.

  • A range of subjects are covered including:-

    • Responsibilities

    • Monitoring

    • First Aid Equipment

    • Resuscitation and AED awareness

    • Choking

    • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

    • Minor injuries

    • Epilepsy

    • Bleeding control

    • Shock

Outdoor First Aid (2 day)

  • A minimum of 16 hours over two days. This course is assessed practically over the two days as well as some oral questioning and a written assessment.

    Lasts for 3 years.

Paediatrics

  • Either a 1 or 2 day course focussing of First Aid for children. Designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of conditions and incidents.

    The 2 day variant fulfils the requirement for first aid training in the Dept. of Education's statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

    Students must be 16+. Qualification valid for 3 years.

  • Both courses include:

    • Responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider

    • Primary Survey

    • Resuscitation and AED

    • Wounds, Bleeding and Shock

    • Seizure

    • Choking

    • Recovery Position

    The 2 day also includes:

    • Allergic Reactions

    • Head, neck and back injuries

    • Fractures

    • Diabetes, Asthma and Meningitis

    • Extreme hot and cold

    • Electrical Incidents
